Halo: Campaign Evolved now has a release date, and players who want in early have a paid path to get there. Halo Waypoint said the game launches on July 28, while Premium Edition pre-orders can unlock up to 5 days of Early Access starting July 23.
That is the main reason the PlayStation 5 version is getting attention now: the timetable is fixed, and the choice between waiting for July 28 or paying for July 23 has been laid out clearly. Halo Waypoint also said players on any platform need a Microsoft account and XBOX Gamertag to play, whether they are going solo or using co-op, because the system is meant to support cross-platform play and cross-platform progression.
The update also gives buyers a better sense of what they are getting at launch and what they are not. Halo: Campaign Evolved will include split-screen and online co-op, and players can turn hitmarkers off in the in-game settings, but there are no current plans for a Photo Mode or Theater Mode. That leaves a gap between the game’s skull-based replay hooks and the kinds of image tools fans might have expected, especially after Halo Waypoint pointed to 3 Skulls hidden on each mission and 3 more tied to Campaign Remix.
There is also a more immediate wrinkle for collectors. The Collector’s Edition is officially sold out, and there are no plans for a restock, even though Halo Waypoint said some customers may cancel pre-orders and a few more units could trickle in over the coming weeks. Earlier this month, Halo Waypoint pulled the curtain back on Halo: Campaign Evolved and shared its release date, then used a June Community Q&A to answer questions about release timing, account requirements, collectibles and gameplay features. For now, the cleanest takeaway is that the game’s launch window is set, the early-access fee has a date attached to it, and the unresolved details are being pushed to a later round of questions.
