Jiménez did not soften his words. “Qué indignación, qué falta de respeto y qué falta de patriotismo,” he said, adding that because he is family of a player on La Tri, “el hecho de que sea familiar de un jugador de la Selección lo siento más cercano.” He went further, calling the people involved “antipatrias” and asking how anyone could go to a concentration with a cubeta de huevos just to disrespect the players that way.
His response mattered because it turned a post-match protest into a family issue, and because the anger was not aimed only at the people outside the hotel.
