Sleep has announced its first new music in eight years and set a 2026 North American run to go with it. The band released "Have Spacesuit Will Travel" through Third Man Records, pairing the new song with two North American tour legs that will land later in the fall.
That is what fans are searching for now: sleep band tour dates tied to the rare return of a band that has spent long stretches away from the road and studio. The first leg runs through all of September, while the second begins in early to mid-November, with stops including San Diego, Austin, Boise, Seattle, Detroit, Toronto, Boston and Philadelphia. An artist pre-sale opens Tuesday, June 23rd, at 10 a.m. local time through Ticketmaster, and the general on-sale follows Thursday, June 25th, at 10 a.m. local time.
For Al Cisneros, the new recording is more than a comeback marker. He is joined by Bubba Dupree and Dale Crover on "Have Spacesuit Will Travel," which is the first Sleep track not to feature Matt Pike. Cisneros has said Pike deserves the best on his earth-bound maneuvers, a careful nod that leaves the larger point untouched: this is new Sleep music, but not the old lineup that defined the band's heaviest years.
That matters because Sleep's history has been stop-start even by reunion-band standards. Its first run lasted from 1990 to 1998, its second from 2009 to 2019, and the group only re-emerged from its most recent hiatus in 2021 and 2022 for a handful of shows. Jason Roeder said in spring 2025 that he had been unceremoniously fired, another reminder that the band's returns have rarely been clean or simple.
The rollout also stretches beyond the song and the shows. Sleep Comic Book, created by Cisneros with Dave Kloc and Arik Roper, sits alongside the music as part of the same announcement, reinforcing that this is a wider reset rather than a single drop. The exact route for the fall tour is still only partly revealed in the available schedule, but the timing is clear enough: Sleep is back in the cycle, and the next proof comes when the presale opens next week.
