Borderlands 4 is getting a split update on June 25. Version 1.8 will add as paid DLC, while will be free for all players.

The timing matters because the update gives paying players one track of content and the rest of the player base another on the same day. Borderlands is also leaning on Zane, whose corner of Moxxi's Bottoms Up! in Carcadia Burn already houses his Memory Zanes in Private Dick, the neo-noir game within a game.

Bounty Pack 3 is built around a new repeatable mission that leads to a new boss and two new mini-bosses. The mission also brings new Glitched enemies that can swap places mid-fight, plus a new Pearlescent weapon and 6 new pieces of Legendary loot. Completing the narrative mission unlocks a Vault Hunter Skin usable by all Vault Hunters, a Vehicle, and an ECHO-4 Drone Skin.

The pack also comes with Vault Card 3, which adds 24 cosmetic items and four pieces of rerollable gear. Vault Cards are meant to keep players moving through Daily and Weekly Challenges for more loot and XP, and they can be leveled at the player's own pace with no time limits or expiring rewards. That makes the paid side of Version 1.8 more than a one-time drop.

The contrast inside the June 25 release is hard to miss. Bounty Pack 3 asks players to buy into Zane's story, while Takedown at Hadron Abyss opens as an endgame raid for everyone. has framed the rollout as a broad content refresh, but the split means the day will land differently depending on whether a player wants the narrative pack, the raid, or both.

What is still not clear is the price of Bounty Pack 3. For now, the only firm answer is that Version 1.8 is scheduled to arrive on June 25, and Borderlands 4 players will have to decide whether the paid pack is worth it before they can dive into Zane's new mission.
