The 12-year-old performed several tracks from her debut EP, N0rth4Evr, along with her 2024 collaboration with Kanye West, “TALKING.”
The appearance matters because it put North West in front of a festival crowd as a performer rather than a viral curiosity. She released N0rth4Evr on May 1, and the Summer Smash set came about six weeks later, giving her music a larger live platform just as public interest around her is growing.
Kim Kardashian was there to cheer her daughter on as she took the stage, joined by her friend and stylist Dan Levi. Videos from the festival team showed behind-the-scenes moments, and Kardashian later shared posts on Instagram alongside Rob Kardashian, Khloe Kardashian and Kris Jenner, each streaming and listening to North West's music. Kanye West was not in attendance.
North West's set also showed how quickly her music is moving beyond the studio. The crowd sang along to “TALKING,” a response that gives the performance a real-world measure her online clips cannot. It also came after a surprise appearance at Rolling Loud in Florida, where she joined rapper Molly Santana, suggesting the festival circuit is becoming part of her rollout.
That momentum arrives with a familiar family spotlight attached. North West is the eldest of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West's four children, and her public image has already drawn attention for her piercings and for a TikTok post in December in which she pushed back on criticism. For now, the key unanswered question is not whether people are watching her. It is which song, stage or release she uses next to define herself as a solo act.
