West Ham United have put a €20 million price tag on Mohamadou Kanté after the 20-year-old midfielder drew inquiries from around twenty European clubs, including Olympique de Marseille and AS Monaco. A sale for less remains possible, and a loan move has not been ruled out.
The move has put a fresh spotlight on Kanté just as the summer market starts to warm. Clubs from Germany, Austria, Scotland, Italy and England’s Premier League are also said to be watching the 1.95-meter defensive midfielder, whose profile has grown fast since West Ham brought him in during 2024 on a five-year contract.
Kanté has done more than collect admirers. He played 32 matches in all competitions this season, including 19 for the first team, and finished with five goals and three assists. For a 20-year-old in his role, that output gives clubs a reason to look beyond his age and focus on what he has already shown on the field.
He was trained at Paris FC after starting at AS Jeunesse Aubervilliers, and his rise has been matched by a contract that ties him to West Ham until 2031. Sources in England estimate his annual gross salary at €1.86 million, or about €155,000 a month, figures that make him expensive enough to price out casual interest but still reachable for a club that wants to move quickly.
The catch is West Ham’s own position. The club has set the line at €20 million, yet it has not closed the door on a cheaper departure, even on loan. That leaves OM, AS Monaco and the other suitors with a straightforward choice this summer: meet the valuation, or wait and hope West Ham blinks first.
