Jake Hall’s funeral was held on Friday, June 12, at St Mary the Virgin in Wanstead, London, bringing family, former partners and television friends together for a public farewell. He was 35.
White flowers were placed on Hall’s coffin as it was carried into the church, while a large screen outside showed the service inside. Among those attending were his ex-girlfriend Chloe Lewis, the mother of his child Misse Beqiri, Sandra Beckham, Joanne Beckham, James Argent, Lydia Bright and Liam “Gatsby” Blackwell.
The service drew attention because Hall had been a familiar face on The Only Way Is Essex, where he appeared from series 14 to series 17 after joining in 2015. He quit the show in 2024, but his name had already returned to headlines after news of his death was announced on Thursday, May 7, and the programme paid tribute, saying he had been part of the TOWIE family for a number of years and sending sympathy to his family and friends.
Beqiri’s own tribute after his death showed how personal the loss was. She wrote that she never thought she would have to put those words down, said there was no way he was ever supposed to go, and wrote that her heart was shattered and so was their daughter River’s. River is eight.
That grief sat alongside the circumstances reported around his death. Hall was said to have been found at a Spanish holiday villa with head injuries, in a pool of blood with wounds caused by shards of glass. The funeral gave friends and family a chance to mourn him in public, but it also left unanswered what exactly happened before he was found in Spain.
Hall had shot to fame on TOWIE in 2015 as a friend of Vas J Morgan and as Lewis’s former boyfriend, and he later dated Beqiri. He also ran a menswear brand called By Jake Hall. For now, the farewell in Wanstead is the clearest chapter in a story still shadowed by the events that led to it.
