Sorana Cîrstea’s Queen’s round-of-16 match against Emma Răducanu was postponed by rain on Thursday and moved to Friday, 12 June 2026, not before 14:30. Organizers put the meeting second on Andy Murray Arena behind Elena Rybakina’s match with Tatjana Maria.
The delay matters because this was one of the day’s most watched matches, with Răducanu in front of a home crowd after beating Anna Blinkova 6-0, 6-3 in the opening round and Cîrstea arriving after a 6-4, 5-7, 6-2 win over Maddison Inglis. Rybakina completed the match ahead of them, coming from a set down to beat Maria 6-7, 7-5, 6-0, which pushed the rest of the Andy Murray Arena schedule back with it.
There was also a reason this meeting drew extra attention beyond the weather. Cîrstea and Răducanu had already played once this year, when the Romanian beat the Briton 6-0, 6-2 in the Transylvania Open final, and Răducanu said at the BTarena press conference that Cîrstea is a very good and nice person, adding that it is great to have someone like her on the tour.
Even after the move to Friday, officials still held out hope the match could be played on Thursday if the weather improved, which is why the schedule did not close the door completely before the courts were cleared. The rain also forced other changes, including the cancellation and rescheduling of Katie Boulter against Jaqueline Cristian, underlining how quickly the tournament plan was unraveling across Queen’s on 11 June 2026.
For now, the next step is simple: Cîrstea and Răducanu were due back on Andy Murray Arena on 12 June, but no earlier than 14:30, with the weather and the backlog deciding whether the rematch actually went ahead on the day it was moved to.
