Pokemon GO is adding Squawkabilly on June 23, when the Flying Taxi event begins and the Paldean bird makes its debut in the game. The event runs through June 29, giving players one week to catch the new arrival in the wild and through Field Research rewards.
That timing matters because Squawkabilly arrives with four color variants, but only two of them are available everywhere. Yellow Plumage and White Plumage can spawn worldwide, while Green Plumage is limited to the Eastern Hemisphere and Blue Plumage is limited to the Western Hemisphere. For players trying to complete the set, geography will decide a lot more than luck.
Niantic’s announcement turns Squawkabilly into one of the more straightforward collection targets of the summer. The Pokemon was introduced in Scarlet and Violet, does not evolve, and will not have Shiny versions when it debuts. That means the event is about filling a dex slot and chasing forms, not hunting for a rare alternate color on day one.
The split is what makes the debut feel unfinished for many players. Two of the four forms are globally available, but the other two are divided by hemisphere, so anyone hoping to catch all four without help will run into a wall unless they can trade remotely with someone in the other region. It is the same kind of collection problem Pokemon GO players know from region-exclusive forms like Flabebe and Oricorio, except this one arrives inside a single seven-day window.
The bigger calendar pressure comes right after the event ends. Pokemon GO Fest Global 2026 is scheduled for July 11, so Squawkabilly’s debut lands just ahead of another major date on the game’s summer schedule. For players, the practical question is simple: catch what you can during the Flying Taxi event, because the form you miss in your hemisphere may not be easy to replace later.
