NBC has canceled nine shows as it clears space for a much different 2026-27 lineup, including the end of The Kelly Clarkson Show after seven seasons and the exit of The Hunting Party after two.
The moves land now because NBC is not trimming one corner of its schedule; it is reworking the network’s mix of scripted, daytime and talk programming at the same time it leans harder into sports for the next broadcast cycle. That makes this round of cuts more than a routine renewal decision. It is the shape of the network’s next phase.
Among the shows affected are Brilliant Minds, which NBC already canceled earlier in the month, and Stumble, also dropped earlier in 2026. Law & Order: Organized Crime ended after five seasons, while Access Daily is ending with its parent program and The Steve Wilkos Show is wrapping after 19 seasons. The total reduction is nine shows, a number that underscores how broadly the network is moving to reset its schedule.
Stumble had drawn a 96% fan score on Rotten Tomatoes, which made its cancellation stand out to viewers tracking the fate of NBC’s newer programming. Still, the network is not only walking away from low-profile titles or underperformers. The Kelly Clarkson Show, one of its most recognizable daytime properties, is being brought to a close after seven seasons, a sign that the overhaul reaches well beyond primetime.
The Hunting Party carries the clearest example of NBC’s reset in motion. The network initially weighed a third season on broadcast and also considered shifting the series to Peacock, but neither option stuck. NBC has said there was nothing negative about the show, yet Jeff Bader still made clear last month that the network was looking for places where it could grow and needed to do better in that time period. In other words, the issue was not about blame. It was about fit.
That is why the cancellations matter today: NBC is not just pruning a few titles, it is making room for a schedule that will look different for viewers in 2026-27. The network’s next lineup details have not been confirmed, but the direction is plain enough. Sports will carry more weight, and the shows left behind will have to live inside a smaller, harder target.
