Pereira, 13-3 in MMA and 10-2 in the UFC, is already a major name in the sport, and Volkanovski’s read is that the biggest moment on the card could end with him adding another line to an already crowded resume.
Volkanovski made the case on his YouTube channel and did not sound like someone dismissing Gane. He said the fight is tougher than people think and called it striker vs. striker, a pairing that can make the French heavyweight look more dangerous than the betting chatter might suggest. Gane, 13-2 in MMA and 10-2 in the UFC, has the kind of range game Volkanovski thinks can matter if he stays disciplined.
That is the wrinkle in his prediction. Volkanovski said he can see Gane jabbing, kicking to the body or legs, staying safe and avoiding the heavy exchanges that could change the fight. He said he is 50-50 on the matchup and acknowledged that Gane could win a decision by keeping the action measured and limiting damage, even though he still landed on Pereira in the end.
