Halo: Campaign Evolved now has a launch date: July 28, 2026. Pre-orders are open on , and , and buyers of the Premium Edition or Collector's Edition can begin playing up to five days early on July 23.

The timing matters because the game is not just a straight release of the classic campaign. The full package includes the original 10-mission Halo: Combat Evolved story, plus Operation: METEORITE, a new three-mission arc that arrives with every edition and pushes and behind enemy lines aboard a Covenant research vessel a year before the first game. helped develop that story, and his new digital short, Halo: Hungry Buzzards, leads into it.

Pre-ordering any edition unlocks the Foundry Armory Pack, which includes the Classic 2001 Mark V Armor skin, Classic 2001 Assault Rifle skin, Gilded Onyx Armor style and Gilded Onyx Assault Rifle style. The Premium Edition adds the full game, early access, the Alpha Halo Armory Pack with five Master Chief armor skins and six weapon skins, and the Digital Story & Art Collection. That collection includes Halo: Hungry Buzzards, The Art of Halo: Campaign Evolved digital artbook and a digital game manual inspired by the original 2001 Halo: Combat Evolved manual.

The friction is that Halo: Campaign Evolved is being sold as a faithful remake, yet the new material is doing a lot of the work around the launch. Operation: METEORITE adds new missions, enemy variants, weapons and space combat, and the trailer showed players fighting alongside UNSC forces, pushing through Covenant-held spaces, facing the Brute Berserker and taking the fight into space. The Collector's Edition, available on , layers on a 12-inch Dark Horse Master Chief statue, a light-up LED chip, a Steelbook, three original concept art prints, a physical reimagined manual and a disc for Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5, while the Steam version comes as a code only.

What remains unanswered is price. For now, players know exactly when Halo: Campaign Evolved lands, when early access begins, and that the series is leaning on both nostalgia and new content to make the remake feel like a bigger event than a simple return trip to the ring.
