UCLA and Georgia Tech have moved to the front of the College Baseball World Series race two weeks before the tournament begins, sitting above the rest in the latest odds. UCLA is the favorite at +420, while Georgia Tech is next on the board as the field starts to take shape.
The timing matters because the College World Series is almost here, and these numbers are the clearest snapshot yet of who is being treated as the team to beat. UCLA, which won its only national title in 2013 and finished runner-up in 2010, carries an implied probability of 19.23% to win its second championship. Georgia Tech, still seeking its first College World Series title, is trying to turn a strong season into something more in the final stretch.
Both teams also sit atop the latest NCAA rankings, which helps explain why they have separated themselves from the pack in the title market. Georgia is right behind them at No. 3 in the country and fourth on the odds list at +1200 after winning the SEC Tournament and beating Arkansas 11-1 in the final. That kind of finish tends to reshape how a team is viewed when the bracket is about to be set.
Still, the gap between ranking and expectation is not the same for every contender. Southern Miss is ranked No. 7 nationally and owns a 40-14 record with a 22-8 mark in Sun Belt play, plus wins over Purdue, Oregon State, Baylor, Alabama, Ole Miss and Mississippi State, but it is out at +4500 to win the national title. The number says as much about the market as it does about the team: a strong résumé can still leave a club well behind the favorites when the oddsmakers decide who looks most built for Omaha.
Last year’s path also hangs over the conversation. Coastal Carolina reached the final before losing to LSU, a reminder that the title race can change quickly once the tournament starts. For now, UCLA and Georgia Tech have the best positions in the latest odds, Georgia is close behind, and everyone else is still trying to close the distance before the College Baseball World Series opens in two weeks.
