Real Madrid are preparing a €150m bid for Michael Olise if Florentino Pérez wins re-election as club president in this weekend’s vote. The move would give Madrid a fresh route into the summer market and put Bayern Munich on alert for a fight they may not want to have.
That is why Olise has become the name drawing attention now. Pérez told the Spanish media on Thursday that he planned to give Madrid fans a huge bid for a galáctico-level player next week, and he denied he was talking about Olise. But it is understood the Bayern winger is exactly who Madrid intend to pursue this summer, with the club also keeping an eye on Paris Saint-Germain midfielder João Neves.
The scale of the reported offer says plenty about how Madrid are thinking. Olise, 24, moved to Germany in 2024 and has already helped Vincent Kompany’s side win two Bundesliga titles. His contract runs until 2029, which means Bayern are under no pressure to sell and would have to be persuaded by a fee that matches both his age and his value to the champions.
That value has been on display beyond the league as well. José Mourinho watched Olise when Bayern Munich beat VfB Stuttgart in last month’s German Cup final, another sign that the winger’s performances are being tracked by some of the biggest names in the game. Bayern, though, have made their position plain. Uli Hoeness called Olise “unsellable,” a word that leaves little room for diplomatic interpretation if Madrid do decide to test that resolve.
The wider backdrop is a Madrid squad planning for more than one major addition. The club have already arranged deals to sign Ibrahima Konaté on a free transfer and Denzel Dumfries from Inter, suggesting this summer could be shaped by more than one aggressive move. If Pérez wins as expected over rival candidate Enrique Riquelme, the next step would be a bid next week that forces Bayern to decide whether one of their most prized players is truly beyond reach.
For now, the election is the hinge. If Pérez keeps his grip on the presidency, Madrid look ready to turn a public promise into a very private problem for Bayern.
