Jaiden Bryant has flipped his commitment from LSU to Miami, changing the outlook for two major recruiting powers in one move. The five-star edge rusher from the 2027 class had been committed to LSU since January, but a Wednesday report from Hayes Fawcett of Rivals said the nation’s No. 20 overall player had moved to Miami after an official visit.
That visit appears to have done the damage for LSU. Bryant said, “It went great,” and pointed to time with players already on the roster as one of the high points. He added that he “appreciated the way the coaches treated me and my family,” and said, “I felt love here” and “I felt wanted,” before saying he planned to shut down the rest of his recruitment.
For Miami, the pickup strengthens a class that already ranks No. 3 in 247Sports’ 2027 recruiting cycle. Bryant is the No. 2 edge rusher in the class, and his profile fits a program that has made a habit of selling development on the line of scrimmage under Mario Cristobal. Miami also has recent proof to point to: Rueben Bain Jr. and Akheem Mesidor were both first-round picks in the 2026 NFL draft, a pitch that matters to any high-end pass rusher looking for a path to the league.
LSU had held Bryant’s pledge through the winter, but the official visit changed the equation. That kind of late turn is exactly why recruiting never really sleeps, even for a prospect who looked settled. Bryant’s own description of the trip, from the atmosphere around the team to the way the staff treated his family, explains why the Tigers lost ground so quickly.
The bigger question now is whether Miami can keep Bryant locked in all the way to signing day. He says he plans to end the chase, and with a player ranked this high, that promise carries real weight until the first letter of intent is signed.
