Gameplay screenshots of Rayman Legends: Retold leaked online before the game’s official reveal, giving fans an early look at a remake that has not yet been announced on its own terms. The images, which briefly appeared as part of a preview that went live before the embargo date, show a version of the 2013 platformer with its watercolouring look removed and replaced by a more modern style.
Tom Henderson said Insider Gaming had seen hours of footage of the game and was impressed by the visuals, adding weight to what the screenshots already suggest: this is not a simple polish job. Rayman Legends was first released in September 2013, and the new version is understood to be coming as Rayman Legends: Retold, with visuals completely overhauled and new features and levels added.
The leak landed now because the game is expected to be revealed during today’s PlayStation State of Play, and the screenshots were still accessible through the Wayback Machine after the original article was deleted. That has turned an embargo slip into a first real glimpse of one of the more watched remakes in the pipeline, especially with the game scheduled for October 1, 2026 on Xbox Series S|X, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC.
Not everyone wants that remake. Some fans have criticized the decision to revisit a game they still think holds up today, and the backlash hangs over a project that is being sold as more than a visual refresh. Other leaks have already pointed to couch co-op and a free copy of the original Rayman Origins, but the missing piece is still the same one that matters most: how far beyond the old game this version is really going to go.
For now, the leak has done what the official reveal has not: it has shown that Rayman Legends: Retold is aiming for a full visual reset, not a nostalgic touch-up. Today’s State of Play should answer the rest.
