The Dallas Wings opened their WNBA Commissioners’ Cup run with a statement Monday night, rolling past the Seattle Storm 79-56 and stretching their early-season surge to five wins in six games. The victory moved Dallas to 6-3 and kept the Wings moving like a team that has found its rhythm fast.
Paige Bueckers led the way with 10 points, nine rebounds and seven assists, finishing one assist shy of her season high while adding a rebound total that blew past her previous best of six. She was one of only two Wings players in double figures, a sign of how much the game tilted in Dallas’ favor even without a long list of scorers piling up big numbers.
That included Azzi Fudd, who scored nine points in 24 minutes and filled out the box score with an assist, a steal and a block. It was the sort of efficient all-around line that helped Dallas keep Seattle stuck at 56 points and control the game from start to finish.
Fudd’s night also fit a rookie pattern that has already shown some swing, with four single-digit point totals and four double-digit outings in her first season. On Monday, she landed just below double figures but still gave Dallas useful minutes on both ends, which mattered in a game the Wings never allowed to get close.
The next test comes Friday against the Los Angeles Sparks, and the Wings will take that into it with the kind of record that changes the tone around a team quickly. After Monday, Dallas is 6-3, the Cup run is underway, and the start has already put real separation between the Wings and the version of themselves that used to need a week like this to arrive.
