Supporters heading to Broadwood Stadium for Sunday’s Scottish Junior Cup Final between Auchinleck Talbot and Largs Thistle will be able to buy tickets on the day, with sales opening at 2pm at the reception front door. The final, which carries the 3 Pillars Financial Planning Scottish Communities Cup name, kicks off at 4.05pm in Cumbernauld on May 31.
The move matters because a decision had first been made for tickets to be sold in advance only, before the plan changed to allow matchday sales as well. Adults will pay £12 and OAPs and concessions £6, with cash and card accepted for both sets of supporters.
That will be welcome news for fans who are travelling to the game and may have left it late to sort their entry. It also gives the final a more immediate, day-of-match feel, rather than forcing everyone through a pre-sale system before they set off for the stadium.
The contest brings together two clubs with very different Junior Cup histories. Talbot have won the trophy 14 previous times and last lifted it in 2022, while Largs Thistle’s only named title in the facts provided came in May 1994, when Pat McCurdy scored the winner in a 1-0 final victory over Glenafton FC at Ibrox Stadium.
For Largs Thistle, that long wait gives this final extra weight. For Talbot, it is another chance to add to a record built over decades. But the immediate story for Sunday is simpler than all that: tickets will now be available at Broadwood from 2pm, and the first whistle will follow at 4.05pm.
