Tom Hardy reportedly kept Helen Mirren, Pierce Brosnan and other cast members waiting for hours on the set of MobLand season two, after a source close to production said he refused to come out of his trailer at times during filming. The behavior was described as a power play, and one source said it could badly damage his standing on the series.
The report lands now because MobLand has not been officially renewed for a third season, even as another source says filming, if the streamer gives the go-ahead, is tentatively set to begin in September this year. That makes Hardy’s conduct more than an old-set anecdote; it has become part of the conversation around whether Harry Da Souza remains central to the show’s future.
Hardy plays Harry Da Souza in the Guy Ritchie co-directed drama, while Brosnan plays Conrad Harrigan and Mirren plays Maeve Harrigan. A source close to production said, “He refused to come out of his trailer for hours at a time,” adding that “Keeping Pierce Brosnan, Helen Mirren and others waiting is career suicide, I would wager.”
That warning echoes a long-running reputation Hardy has carried in industry circles. In 2024, George Miller told The Telegraph that Hardy had to be coaxed out of his trailer during Mad Max: Fury Road, although Miller also defended the pair’s dynamic, saying they were “two very different performers” and describing Hardy as someone with “a damage to him but also a brilliance that comes with it.” Miller added that he saw their behavior as reflecting their characters, but said there was “no excuse” for disruption that could be avoided.
Hardy’s reported behavior on MobLand also follows a Puck News report that he was trying to alter dialogue and provide script notes to Jez Butterworth and Ronan Bennett. Another source close to production said producers were rethinking Hardy’s future, while a separate source said his fate is still to be decided. That leaves the show in an awkward position: the cast has already had to absorb the disruption, but the bigger question is whether the streamer wants to carry it into season three.
The Hollywood Reporter said it did not hear back from Hardy’s team or a representative for Mirren when it reached out for comment, while Brosnan was described as traveling and unreachable. For now, the next real marker is simple: whether MobLand is renewed and, if it is, whether Hardy is still there when filming is due to start in September.
