Alabama opened the 2026 Women's College World Series the way it needed to, with a 6-3 win over UCLA on Thursday evening that sent the Crimson Tide into the winner's bracket. The victory keeps Alabama alive on the top side of the bracket and sets up a Saturday game against either Arkansas or Nebraska.

She threw her 16th complete game of the season and struck out nine, holding UCLA to three runs on a pair of home runs and giving Alabama enough time to find its own power.
Alabama did that in the middle innings. Alexis Pupillo broke the tie with a home run in the fifth, her 20th of the season, and Brooke Wells added another in the sixth, her 24th. That gave Alabama its first pair of 20-plus home run hitters in program history, and it turned a tight game into a result that changed the Tide's path through Oklahoma City.
That final margin stood out because UCLA came in with more than 200 home runs and still could not turn the game into a slugfest. Briski limited the damage, did not walk anybody and got clean support behind her, while Alabama's offense stayed patient until Pupillo and Wells connected. The Bruins finished 52-9 after the loss, while Alabama moved to 55-7.
Now the only uncertainty is which name appears on the other side of the bracket next to Alabama's. Nebraska is one possibility, Arkansas the other, but either way the Tide have already earned the right to play again with the winner's bracket still in front of them.
