Paris Saint-Germain players are in line for a reported bonus of around €1 million each if they beat Arsenal and become Champions League winner in Budapest. The payout would go to every first-team player, including those on the fringes of the squad, under a collective agreement negotiated before the final.
That is the number drawing attention because it is unusually large even by elite football standards, and because it would be shared equally rather than tied to individual minutes or goals. The deal was struck by a four-man leadership group led by Marquinhos, Achraf Hakimi, Ousmane Dembele and Vitinha, a sign of how PSG have moved under sporting director Luis Campos toward rewards that cover the whole squad instead of just the stars.
The timing matters because PSG are chasing a second consecutive Champions League title, after last season’s 5-0 demolition of Inter Milan in the final. This time, Arsenal stand between them and another trophy, with the final set for the Puskas Arena in Budapest and the bonus only triggered if PSG win there.
Yet Luis Enrique brushed aside the money as the point of the occasion. “I don’t think there’s any better motivation than winning the Champions League,” he said, adding that the club has already entered the history books as one of Europe’s best teams but still wants more. He also said, “You never know when you’re going to be back in the Champions League final and you have to make the most of it.”
That leaves a subtle but telling contradiction in the buildup: the club has reportedly put one of its biggest squad-wide payments in recent memory on the table, while its coach insists the real reward is the trophy itself. If PSG do beat Arsenal, the club still has not publicly confirmed the bonus structure, but the final in Budapest will reveal whether the promise of a shared windfall was the extra edge or simply the backdrop to a team already convinced it must finish the job.
