has revealed that was the driver of the secret that has been hanging over Weatherfield, and Friday's episode on Itv X shows how he accidentally caused Carl Webster's injuries after a confrontation at Webster's Autocentre. The early release also explains why Tyrone has been lying to the police about .

The episode, which airs at 8.30pm on ITV1 or can be streamed now on , puts Tyrone at the centre of two tangled storylines at once. Summer is facing the prospect of spending the rest of her life behind bars, with a burnt journal, her brooch found at the scene and George Shuttleworth seeing her run from the direction of Theo Silverton's flat all being used against her. Tyrone, meanwhile, has been carrying the secret that he saw Summer leave the flat and also saw Theo alive, peeking through the blinds, before he denied everything when questioned by Weatherfield police.

Earlier this week, Tyrone made a guilt-ridden phone call to a mystery accomplice and said they needed to form a plan, and Todd Grimshaw later confronted him in the Rovers over his refusal to tell the truth. Adam Barlow told Summer that agreeing to a plea deal for manslaughter could shorten her prison sentence, while Tyrone told that they should admit what really happened. Carl then overheard Tyrone confiding in Ronnie, which pulled the story closer to the accident that had been hiding in plain sight.

The flashback shows Tyrone slipping away from Carla Connor-Swain and Lisa Connor-Swain's wedding reception, noticing the shutter on Webster's Autocentre open and going inside. There he found Carl interfering with Kevin's car brakes, started recording him on his phone, then stumbled, grabbed a trolley jack for support and sent the vehicle crashing down onto Carl. Tyrone panicked and fled, but Ronnie told him to leave and let him sort things before driving him to hospital so he could recover from his own injuries.

The same episode also undercuts Tyrone's claim that he never saw Summer at all. After that earlier lie to police, he later saw her emerging unsteadily from the flat above the corner shop and noticed Theo watching from the window, while Fiz Dobbs tried to calm him by saying Summer must have misunderstood the situation. That leaves one question still hanging over him: whether Tyrone will finally tell the police the truth, or keep protecting the mystery accomplice whose plan began with that phone call earlier this week.
