The Toronto Blue Jays added Charles McAdoo to their major-league roster on Thursday, bringing the infielder up from Triple-A Buffalo and making him active for the series opener in Baltimore. Connor Seabold was also added, while Chase Lee was optioned to Triple-A Buffalo.
McAdoo arrived in Baltimore as the Blue Jays began a seven-game road trip at Camden Yards, a day when the club needed fresh bodies and had to keep moving pieces around. Toronto entered Thursday at 27-29, and the roster shift put the 26th-ranked prospect in the system in position to make his first real push at the major-league level.
That is what makes McAdoo’s promotion notable. The Blue Jays acquired him from the Pittsburgh Pirates for Isiah Kiner-Falefa at the 2024 trade deadline, and this season he hit.250/.357/.432 with eight home runs and 27 RBI in 50 games for Buffalo. He had the numbers of a player forcing his way into the conversation, even if he still had no established major-league track record.
Thursday’s moves also reflected the churn around him. Lenyn Sosa was placed on the 10-day injured list with a right wrist contusion, and Lazaro Estrada was transferred to the 60-day injured list. With those changes piling up, Toronto made McAdoo available immediately rather than waiting for a more convenient opening.
For now, the unanswered part is not whether McAdoo belongs on the roster for a night. It is how the Blue Jays plan to use him once the game starts and whether this is a one-day stopgap or the first step toward a longer look in Toronto.
