Einbinder marked the end on Monday with a farewell message to the people behind the show, saying “Hacks has made everything in my life possible.” She added that she had no acting experience when she started on the series in 2021, but believed she could do the job because the Ava character was built so fully. “I feel like the luckiest person on Earth to have been a part of it,” she wrote, calling the bond with Paul W. Downs, Jen Statsky and Lucia Aniello the heart of the experience.
The show’s creators have their own full-circle story. Downs, Statsky and Aniello got an Airbnb in Paris in 2019 to write the pilot, and Downs said the finale was shot on the same street as that apartment by coincidence. Seven years after that first writing trip, the team returned to Paris to film the end of the series, turning a practical production detail into something that felt, at least to those involved, a little like fate.
That sense of connection runs through Einbinder’s note, which framed “Hacks” not just as a job but as a creative family. She said the series gave her the ability to tour, release a standup special and become an actor, while also giving her “a great big family of cherished people.” For a performer who entered the project without prior acting experience, the final chapter arrives as proof of how much the show reshaped her career.
