Josie Canseco marked her one-year dating anniversary with AJ Smith-Shawver on Monday by posting a string of intimate photos to her 1.1 million Instagram followers, a public salute to the relationship the two first took online last summer.
The post included 20 snaps of Canseco and the injured Braves pitcher, many of them taken on vacation and in swimsuits. In photo after photo, Smith-Shawver could be seen kissing and embracing her, while Canseco kept the caption simple: “A year with you” and “How’d I get so lucky.”
The celebration drew a quick response from Smith-Shawver’s mother, Laurie, who commented, “Happy Anniversary!” and “Love y’all so much.” The family reaction added a personal note to a relationship that has stayed visible even as Smith-Shawver has been sidelined since May 2025 with a torn UCL in his pitching elbow.
That injury has kept the 23-year-old right-hander off the field for months, but it has not pushed the couple out of the public eye. In February, Smith-Shawver said he took Canseco as his date to the Braves’ 2026 Gala, another sign the two have continued to share milestones while he works back from surgery-style uncertainty and rehab grind.
Atlanta manager Walt Weiss said over the weekend that Smith-Shawver “is coming along well in his rehab,” a small but meaningful update for a pitcher whose return matters to the club’s pitching plans. For now, the photos offered a different kind of update: a reminder that the relationship is still very much moving forward while the baseball timeline remains on hold.
Canseco, 29, is the daughter of former MLB star Jose Canseco, and her posts have kept the couple in the spotlight since they went public last summer. Monday’s anniversary post did not just mark a year together; it showed that, even with Smith-Shawver injured, the pair are still presenting themselves as a steady part of each other’s lives.
