Juventus have made a late attempt to hijack Tottenham’s deal for Andy Robertson, with the race for the Liverpool left-back now heading into the final stretch. Tottenham already have an agreement in principle with the 32-year-old on a free transfer, but nothing has been signed and Juventus are pressing their case before the summer window opens on June 15.
Gianluca Di Marzio said Juventus had made inquiries and moves for Robertson and had even put an offer on the table, while maintaining that Tottenham still hold priority. Fabrizio Romano also said Spurs had been in advanced talks for weeks over a free transfer, only for Juventus to enter the race with a proposal and try to take the move away. Ben Jacobs said Juventus made a hijack move to try to sign Robertson, but added that Tottenham’s agreement in principle remained in place and that the deal was arranged after the January window shut, subject to Spurs staying up.
That condition has now been met. Tottenham retained their Premier League status on the final day of the season, ending a run of successive 17th-placed finishes that underlined the need for change. With Robertson’s Liverpool contract expiring on June 30, the timing leaves a narrow window for any rival club to force a rethink before new signings can be officially registered.
The practical edge still appears to be with Tottenham, who moved early and tied the transfer to survival. Juventus have created doubt at the last moment, but unless Robertson changes course, the path to a free move to north London remains open as the clock ticks toward June 15.
