Gwen Stefani gave Blake Shelton a shoutout onstage Saturday as the country singer finally made it to No Doubt’s Las Vegas residency at the Sphere. “Blake Shelton’s here!” Stefani called out to the crowd in Sin City, prompting Shelton to answer later in the video, “That’s me!”
The moment capped a date night of sorts for the married pair, who have been together since July 2021. Shelton hugged Stefani during the show, later sang along to No Doubt’s 1995 hit “Just a Girl,” and finished the footage posing in a new green No Doubt jacket. The next day, he posted the video on Instagram and said he was proud of his wife and the No Doubt members for working hard and putting on the show, adding that he had “finally got a night off to see it.”
Stefani kicked off the group’s residency on May 6, but Shelton missed the debut performance earlier this month. That did not come as much of a surprise: while he was performing at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace, Shelton told the audience that his wife was at another venue. In January, he had already framed the overlapping schedules as a kind of showdown, saying their performances would be “in direct competition.”
The competition angle still lingered when Shelton talked about the logistics of the two shows, joking that Stefani had the upper hand because the Sphere is a bigger room than Caesars. He also teased that there would probably be “a little bit of trash talking” and called the overlap “an absolute ass-kicking.” Even so, Saturday’s visit showed the rivalry was mostly playful. Shelton was there, Stefani noticed, and No Doubt’s long-awaited run in Las Vegas got a very public stamp of approval from the man in the green jacket.
