The has unveiled a limited edition £20 note featuring an image inspired by ’s overhead kick, the goal that sent Scotland to the FIFA World Cup for the first time since 1998. The collector-style note blends familiar banknote elements with football imagery and places the design against the backdrop of the Forth Bridge.

Just 100 brand new notes with the unique design have been printed, making the release a rare souvenir of one of Scotland’s most memorable modern sporting moments. Fifty of them will be available through collector auctions, a prize draw and two pop-up vaults, while the remaining notes stay out of public reach for now.

The two vaults will open for one day only in Glasgow and Edinburgh city centre locations, and fans who crack the code will win one of the limited-edition notes. Proceeds from the auction and prize draw will go to the bank’s charity partner, , the national charity for people experiencing homelessness.

The launch ties the note to Scotland’s return to the top table of international football after a 28-year wait. McTominay’s goal came in Scotland’s dramatic 4-2 win over Denmark in November, when he gave his side a third-minute lead before , and also scored. The feat has already been immortalised in a mural on a tenement gable next to in Glasgow.

McTominay, who plays for in Italy, said seeing the goal on the note was “incredibly special.” He said reaching the biggest stage of world football is something every player dreams of, and that moments like that belong to everyone who follows the team. He added that working with Bank of Scotland on a note that also supports Crisis and its work to tackle homelessness made him even prouder. The release is not a standard note in circulation, but a limited-edition collector piece built around a moment Scotland supporters will not forget.
