Wesley Dane Richman, 10 months old, and Will Thomas Richman, 1, had been missing since around noon on May 16, officials said.
The alert identifies the suspect as Dane Stephen Richman, 46, and describes him as a white man with brown hair and green eyes. Officials said he is 6 feet 2 inches tall, weighs 195 pounds and may be driving a newer model black Toyota Camry with Utah plate number A561HL, though the car may also have a temporary tag. The children were described as just over two feet tall with blonde or strawberry hair and blue eyes.
The AMBER Alert was issued just after 11:30 p.m. Saturday under Utah’s system for children believed to have been abducted and in imminent danger of serious harm or death. That standard matters because it means investigators are treating this as a fast-moving case, not a routine missing-person report.
Officials said the children were reported taken from their home in Saratoga Springs. They also said the suspect had been seriously depressed, had been selling possessions, was facing financial stress and had abandoned his home. Those details suggest investigators were trying to build a public safety picture around the family’s situation as they searched for the two boys.
The case now turns on whether the vehicle can be spotted quickly and whether someone recognizes the suspect before he can move the children farther away. For Wesley and Will, the question is immediate and plain: finding them before the search window closes.
