A stretch of the A12 in Essex was closed in both directions on Tuesday after reports of a multi-vehicle crash between Junction 19 for the Boreham Interchange and Junction 20A for Hatfield Peverel. Traffic quickly began to queue as delays built in the area.
National Highways said it expected the incident to be cleared between 3:30pm and 3:45pm and urged drivers to avoid the area if possible. Details about the crash were not known at the time of the report, and Essex Police had been contacted for comment.
The closure hit a major Essex road at a busy time, leaving drivers to divert while crews dealt with the scene. The cause of the collision remained unclear, but the immediate effect was already visible on the road: stopped traffic, rising delays and a section of the A12 shut off in both directions.
