Glamorgan opened their Women’s Vitality Blast League Two season with a commanding 65-run win over Gloucestershire in Bristol, extending their run of victories to seven straight games. Lauren Parfitt struck 86 off 58 balls and Daisy Jeanes made 38 as Glamorgan posted 184 for 6, then Emily Geach led the defence with 3 for 24 as Gloucestershire were held to 119 for 6.
The result came after Glamorgan went into the match unbeaten in six One Day Cup and T20 County Cup fixtures, and it kept the side moving smoothly through a demanding start to the summer. Parfitt and Jeanes put on 74 runs together after racing to 55 in the powerplay, giving Glamorgan the platform for a total that never looked under threat once they crossed 50 at the halfway point and pushed on to 184 in their 20 overs.
There was a setback before a ball was bowled, with Scotland all-rounder Megan McColl pulled out by injury in the warm-up. Even so, Glamorgan found enough depth to absorb the blow. Nicole Reid kept things tight with 1 for 13 from four overs, while Eve Jackson and Gemma Porter took two wickets apiece to keep Gloucestershire on the back foot.
Gloucestershire offered brief resistance through Emily Geach, who made an unbeaten 32, and Melissa Story, who added 29. Rebecca Halliday scored 17 and former Somerset batter Amelie Munday made 20 on debut, but the home side were restricted to 37 for 1 in the powerplay and were always chasing the game after being set a required rate of 9.25 an over. Geach and Story then added 52 for the sixth wicket before Story was stumped off the final ball, a late rally that did little to change the result.
For Glamorgan, the start matters as much as the scoreline. This was their opening game of the competition, a sign that a side preparing for professional cricket in 2027 already has the tempo and balance to control matches. Parfitt’s form is the clearest marker of that progress: she already has four half-centuries in just seven games in 2026, and in Bristol she again set the tone with an innings that turned a strong platform into a match-winning total.
