INDIANAPOLIS — Caitlin Clark scored 22 points, handed out nine assists and was at the center of two confrontations as the Indiana Fever beat the Golden State Valkyries 90-82 on Friday night. Clark picked up a technical foul before halftime after a heated exchange with Janelle Salaun, then got into another back-and-forth with Tiffany Hayes after a logo 3 tied the game midway through the third quarter.
The Fever needed every bit of Clark’s production because they trailed by seven at halftime. Aliyah Boston added 20 points and 16 rebounds, Kelsey Mitchell scored 19 and Sophie Cunningham delivered five points in under a minute during the decisive fourth quarter, helping Indiana pull away late.
The game had the feel of a grind from the start, and the Valkyries were already carrying the burden of a back-to-back after beating the New York Liberty on Thursday night. Clark’s night also included a flagrant foul late in the game for a screen she set on Veronica Burton, giving the contest a physical edge that matched the scoreboard pressure.
For Indiana, the win was another sign that Clark is continuing a monster start to the 2026 WNBA season, even as the Fever manage their backcourt on the fly. Tyasha Harris started for Clark in Wednesday’s win over the Portland Fire, while Raven Johnson has taken the bulk of backup point guard minutes in the regular rotation lately.
The Fever did not need Clark to carry everything by herself, but they did need her to keep bending the game in their direction whenever Golden State threatened. That is what made the scuffle-filled victory matter: Indiana survived a physical night, found scoring from multiple spots and turned a tense second-half game into a 90-82 result that could travel well beyond one Friday in June.
