Bournemouth is heading into a brighter, warmer bank holiday weekend, with temperatures expected to rise steadily through the period and Sunday forecast to be the hottest day. The said high pressure should bring a good deal of fair, warm weather across the UK, although parts of Northern Ireland and Scotland may stay cloudier with a chance of showers.

For Monday, May 18, Bournemouth was forecast to reach 14C with a low of 11C. Showers were expected to ease in the afternoon, before rain spread across the region overnight with blustery winds and a minimum of 9C. Tuesday, May 19, was due to start with lingering rain in the east clearing quickly, then turn blustery with sunshine and showers, some of them heavy and possibly thundery, as the temperature climbed to 17C and fell to 12C at night.

The pattern was set to stay unsettled at first, with further showers likely on Wednesday, May 20, alongside a high of 18C and a low of 12C. By Thursday, May 21, the weather was expected to turn drier, brighter and warmer, reaching 19C. Friday, May 22, was forecast to be mostly sunny and very warm, with a maximum of 22C and a minimum of 13C.

That improvement was expected to continue into the weekend. Saturday, May 23, was forecast to stay warm with 22C in the afternoon and 12C overnight, before Sunday, May 24, pushes up to 24C, making it the warmest day of the week. For Bournemouth in the BCP area, the full up-to-date forecast can be checked on the Met Office website directly.

The next few days still carry a quick change in tone between showers and sunshine, but the direction of travel is clear: after a damp start, Bournemouth is set for a notably warmer and more settled end to the bank holiday week.
