Taylor Walker is set for his first SANFL game for Kuwarna since 2014 when he lines up against Glenelg on Saturday afternoon, while Mitch Hinge will also return to competitive football after a hamstring setback.
Walker was named in Kuwarna's line-up for the clash at Glenelg Oval, which starts at 2.10pm, after missing the past two AFL matches with a minor hamstring strain. Hinge is back as well after sustaining a moderate hamstring strain in the AFL side's Gather Round win against Carlton last month.
The side is stacked with AFL-listed experience, including Archie Ludowyke, Chayce Jones, Tyler Welsh, Mitchell Marsh, Lachlan Sholl, Charlie Edwards, Hugh Bond, Finnbar Maley, Oscar Ryan, Nick Murray, Indy Cotton, Billy Dowling and Reilly O'Brien. Kuwarna's SANFL-listed group also features captain Kieran Strachan, Tom Bell, Jay Boyle, Blake Drury, Ned Atkinson, Jaxon Bennett, Joseph Haines, Dayne McGary, James Richards and Cam Taheny.
Boyle will play his 101st Club SANFL game after bringing up his 100th for Kuwarna in Round Six, giving the match a milestone edge beyond the returns of Walker and Hinge. The club will wear a red version of its First Nations guernsey for the game as part of SANFL First Nations Round, with the contest to be shown live on the SANFLNow App. The combination of senior names, milestone appearances and the round's symbolism gives Kuwarna a side built for attention as much as points.
For Walker, the selection marks a notable route back through the state league after his brief absence from AFL duty, while Hinge's inclusion adds another proven body to a line-up with both depth and storylines. The challenge now is whether that mix can deliver against Glenelg at a ground where the occasion is already set by the round, the guernsey and the broadcast spotlight.
