The Atlantic Coast Conference moved Georgia Tech’s ACC quarterfinal against Virginia to 11 a.m. Thursday at Truist Field in Charlotte, N.C., after inclement weather forced a schedule change in the tournament. The No. 1 seed will face 8-seeded Virginia on ACC Network, with Georgia Tech set to use the 3rd base dugout.
The rest of the tournament schedule remains unchanged. If Georgia Tech wins, it would return for the ACC Tournament semifinals on Saturday, May 23 at 1 pm, and the championship game would follow on Sunday, May 24 at noon if the Yellow Jackets keep advancing.
Georgia Tech’s path into the bracket comes after Parker Brosius delivered a go-ahead grand slam with two outs in the 7th inning, a swing that helped set up the No. 1 seed’s run into Charlotte. That result now puts the tournament’s top seed in the first game adjusted by the weather, while the rest of the field stays on the original timetable.
The shift is limited to the Georgia Tech-Virginia game, which means the ACC could still keep the bracket moving if the forecast cooperates after Thursday. For Georgia Tech, the immediate task is simple: beat Virginia at 11 a.m. and the bracket opens to a Saturday semifinal, with a title shot waiting on Sunday.
