The signed tackle and running back Carlos Washington Jr. on today’s roster move, while waiving tight end and guard/tackle .

The move gives Miami a back with limited NFL regular-season experience but a long college résumé. Washington has appeared in two career games over two seasons with Atlanta from 2024 to 2025 after entering the league in 2023 as an undrafted college free agent with the Falcons and spending time on their practice squad.

Washington finished his collegiate career at Southeastern Louisiana in 2022 after five seasons at New Hampshire from 2017 to 2021. He played in 45 games with 29 starts in college, logging 511 rushing attempts for 2,475 yards and 25 touchdowns while adding 87 receptions for 611 yards and two scores. The Dolphins’ decision to bring him in comes as they continue to reshape the back end of the roster before the next round of camp and preseason evaluation.

Cox arrives with a different path. He entered the NFL as an undrafted college free agent with Denver in 2025 and later spent time on the practice squad with Denver and Arizona. In college, Cox spent his final two seasons at Kentucky from 2023 to 2024 after five years at Northern Illinois from 2018 to 2022, appeared in 61 games with 59 starts and primarily played left tackle.

The departures also come with notable backgrounds of their own. Conyers entered the NFL as an undrafted college free agent with Miami in 2025 and spent the season on injured reserve after his final college year at Texas Tech, where he earned All-Big 12 honors in 2024. Daniels was a fourth-round pick by Washington in 2023, went 118th overall, spent that season on injured reserve and later had practice-squad stops with Miami, Dallas, Houston, the L.A. Chargers and Philadelphia. At Utah, he played in 49 career games with 43 starts and was a Pac-12 All-Conference first-team selection in 2022.

For Miami, the immediate significance is straightforward: Washington gives the Dolphins another running back option with real college production, while Cox adds depth on the offensive line. The more telling question is whether either newcomer can turn a roster spot into a bigger role before the season picture gets clearer.
