Taylor Swift is reportedly keeping her upcoming wedding to Travis Kelce so tightly guarded that even Ed Kelce is being left out of the loop. Sources told the Daily Mail that the 14-time Grammy winner is withholding details from her future father-in-law because he cannot be trusted to keep a secret.
One source described Ed Kelce as “sort of like a loose cannon,” while another said, “Nobody knows what he’s going to say, so it’s kind of a controversial situation.” The insider said he had already shared a lot about the engagement, which has made Swift even more determined to control what comes out next. She is also reportedly handling the guest list personally, calling invitees herself instead of sending physical save-the-dates.
Ed Kelce had already gone public with key details in late August 2025, telling News 5 Cleveland that Travis Kelce proposed earlier that month at his home in Missouri. He said his son had wanted to wait until the moment felt right, though Swift was allegedly getting antsy. Ed Kelce also described the proposal itself, saying, “He got her out there, they were about to go out to dinner, and he said, ‘let’s go out and have a glass of wine,’ … they got out there, and that’s when he asked her, and it was beautiful.” He added, “They started FaceTiming me and their mother and her folks to make sure everybody knew. So, to see them together is great.”
That public telling of the engagement is now part of the problem. Sources say Kylie Kelce and Donna Kelce are also being kept out of the wedding planning, alongside several friends, as Swift tries to cut down on leaks. One source said there are no physical save-the-dates being sent out, and another said Swift is sharing slightly different details with different guests. A third source said “every person under the sun” who has only a slim or no real relationship with the couple is being invited, suggesting the planning is as much about control as celebration.
The wedding list is also said to be shaped by one name Swift does not want associated with the day: Blake Lively. An insider said Lively is likely not welcome because Swift was upset that Lively dragged her into her legal battle with Justin Baldoni and because private text messages between the two became public record. The source said the fallout left Swift feeling exposed, adding, “OK, you f—ked up my reputation.”
For now, the answer to what happens next is clear enough: Swift is preparing for the wedding on her own terms, and the tighter the circle gets, the less likely it is that anyone else will get to tell the story first.
