The outages, she said, can last a couple of seconds or turn into a full outage, and the most significant one she remembers lasted a few hours. “It could be very sunny with no rain, no wind, and we’ll have issues,” she said.

The frustration is not isolated to one household. said his family has dealt with outages once or twice in the last week or so, and that the problem has become expensive enough that they spent about $2,000 last year on a generator inlet system. Kirk said the pattern has warped what should be ordinary expectations about bad weather and reliability. “Living in Georgia as a kid, I could see a tornado from our living room and we still had power,” he said. “But over here, somebody washes their car, sneezes in the wrong direction, we lose power for four hours.”

The company also encouraged customers experiencing service issues to report them through its Outage Tracker. The move points to a basic truth Bear Creek residents have been pressing for years: this is no longer a one-off inconvenience, but a recurring centerpoint outage problem that has already cost them time, money and household equipment.

“We understand how frustrating it can be for customers to experience flickering lights or brief interruptions and our team will be in the area tomorrow to investigate and address any issues safely and as quickly as possible,” CenterPoint Energy said. “We encourage our customers who may be experiencing service issues to report them using our Outage Tracker, so we can address them immediately.”
