Zian Flemming has emerged as a transfer target for Leeds United as the club prepares to strengthen its attack in the summer window. Leeds scouts have tracked the 27-year-old throughout the season, and Burnley’s relegation has raised the possibility of a cheaper deal.
Former Manchester United chief scout Mick Brown said Leeds have kept close tabs on Flemming for months, not just after Burnley went down. Brown said the club know they want to sign a new striker and are building a list of options, with Flemming among them but not necessarily at the top.
Leeds are assessing several forwards before the market opens, with the aim of adding more firepower next season. Brown said Flemming’s return of 10 Premier League goals this season has impressed the clubs watching him, but added that Leeds are likely to look at other names first if they want a striker capable of pushing them on.
The interest fits with Leeds’ wider planning for the summer transfer window. On 11 May, Football Insider reported that the club could move for Flemming as a replacement for the potentially outgoing Joel Piroe, while scouts are also weighing other attacking targets who could play alongside Dominic Calvert-Lewin next season.
That broader search has also included Wilson Isidor, whom Leeds are monitoring and could try to sign if he becomes available at Sunderland this summer. Burnley’s relegation may reduce Flemming’s price, but Leeds are still deciding whether he becomes a priority or remains one of several forward options on a crowded list.
Brown summed up the picture simply: Flemming is a target, but Leeds want a top-class striker if they are to move forward from where they are now. For Flemming, the coming weeks will determine whether long-standing interest turns into a serious bid.
