That matters because the format Wizards is being asked to police may already be changing under its feet. The recent churn from Spotlight Series: Secrets gives the company cover to wait, even if the complaints about Izzet homogeneity have been loud. A ban now would land before the metagame has had time to absorb three new archetypes, and that makes a Standard change look more like an overreaction than a fix.
Modern, by contrast, does not look like a format begging for surgery. It appeared fairly balanced at the time of writing, and the article expects no changes in this coming ban announcement.
