has signed a new contract with AEW, according to reports that cite sources within the promotion. Neither AEW nor Wight has publicly announced the deal, but the new agreement would keep one of the company’s most recognizable names tied to the roster.

Wight originally signed a multi-year contract with AEW in February 2021, with duties that included commentary for AEW Dark: Elevation and work as an in-ring performer. Since then, he has wrestled only sparingly. Injury issues have limited how often he can compete, and most of his appearances have come as special attractions rather than on a regular schedule.

That limited usage fits the way AEW has leaned on him. Wight has not won a championship in the company, and he does not appear in AEW’s current singles or tag team rankings. His role has gradually shifted more toward commentary and occasional appearances, with his most recent AEW TV appearance coming during the last November, when he joined the commentary desk for a singles match between QT Marshall and Big Boom AJ.

He was also seen inside the ring at the Jericho Cruise in 2024, where he teamed with and against , and Lance Archer. That appearance underlined the pattern that has defined his AEW run: when Wight does step into action, it is usually for a one-off attraction rather than the start of a sustained in-ring stretch.

The new deal suggests AEW still values Wight as part of its presentation even as his wrestling schedule remains limited. For now, the only certainty is that he remains in the company’s orbit, more often heard at the desk than seen in a standard match, and still capable of drawing attention whenever he does appear.
