Pokémon GO’s next Community Day Classic will center on Deino on Saturday, May 16, 2026, with the event running from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. local time. Trainers who log in during that three-hour window will see Deino appear more frequently in the wild, and lucky players may encounter a Shiny Deino.
The return is more than a simple spotlight hour dressed up with a new label. Evolving Deino into Zweilous and then Hydreigon during the event will give Hydreigon the Charged Attack Brutal Swing, the same move it could learn during its original Community Day event in June 2022. For players who want extra rewards, the Community Day Special Research Story, Field Notes: Deino, will be available for $1.99 USD or the equivalent price in local currency and will include encounters with Deino, three of which will have a Special Background.
That ticketed research is part of a format Niantic has kept alive since it revived a 2018 Community Day in January 2022 and called it Community Day Classic. A second Classic followed in April 2022, and the series has continued ever since, giving older featured Pokémon a second turn in the spotlight instead of limiting the event calendar to new content alone.
There are a few catches for players planning ahead. PokéStop Showcases will not be active during the event, while Deino-themed Field Research will be available throughout the day. The guide also says the Special Research steps will be updated once the event goes live, and it notes that the research initially listed a fourth step when it first rolled out.
For trainers, the message is straightforward: this is the day to catch as many Deino as possible, because the path to a stronger Hydreigon runs through a narrow time window. When the event ends at 5 p.m., the boosted spawns do too, and the move window closes with them.
