Gen V may be gone after 2 seasons, but its story is not finished. Eric Kripke recently said the team is still finding ways to complete the young supe drama, even after the show was canceled and its main cast largely disappeared from The Boys final stretch.
The latest clue came when Kripke revealed that the first draft of The Boys Mexico pilot was delivered to Prime Video and got a positive response. He had already said he had plans for how he would continue Gen V after season 2, and that matters because season 2 ended with Marie positioned as a possible rival to Homelander. The ending set up a fight that the main series has not fully paid off.
That is where the weight of the story sits: Marie and Jordan Li did turn up in cameos in The Boys season 5 episode 7, but the rest of the Gen V ensemble was missing. For viewers expecting the spinoff to feed directly into the franchise’s closing chapter, that absence made the cancellation feel less like a pause than a break in the narrative.
Kripke said the decision to pull the plug on Gen V was not his. That leaves the creative team with a problem it did not choose: how to resolve characters introduced as part of the wider universe when the main show is already moving toward its end. Vought Rising, the other franchise project in motion, is a prequel centered on Soldier Boy and Stormfront, which makes it a poor home for the younger characters from Gen V.
The Boys Mexico has been in talks for quite some time, but it is still not confirmed to happen. Even so, the series now looks like the clearest place to carry forward Gen V’s core characters if the franchise decides to give them a more conclusive ending. A Mexico setting could make room for the story without forcing it back into a show that has already moved on.
For now, that is the answer the franchise has offered: Gen V is canceled, but not abandoned, and the one project that could still give Marie and the others a finish is the one that has not yet cleared the final hurdle. Until Prime Video turns that draft into a series order, the young supe story remains suspended between one ending and the next.
