Liverpool are weighing a move for Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier if Alisson leaves for Juventus, while the club remains reluctant to pin its hopes on Giorgi Mamardashvili as the back-up plan. The same summer scramble has also taken Mohamed Salah toward Turkey, with the winger approving a move to Fenerbahçe after the Istanbul club put a $23.5 million annual salary on the table, which works out at £17.5 million.
The numbers frame a busy market. Salah’s reported decision gives Fenerbahçe momentum, but Liverpool’s goalkeeping plans still depend on what happens around Alisson and Juventus. Elsewhere, Rafael Leão could leave AC Milan for a bargain fee this summer, and Chelsea plus Manchester United are considering bids. Chelsea have also joined Manchester United in the chase for Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott, while Xabi Alonso wants Chelsea to sign Real Madrid’s Arda Güler, who has been unsettled by off-field tensions at the Bernabéu and is said to like the idea of a reunion.
Rodri is moving closer to a new Manchester City contract and has not drawn formal interest from Real Madrid, which removes one possible twist from the summer picture. Even so, the chase for Anthony Gordon is gathering pace: Bayern Munich have agreed personal terms with the Newcastle United winger, Arsenal are part of the race, and Newcastle want more than $100 million, or £75 million, for him. Sporting CP midfielder Morten Hjulmand is also at the centre of a tug-of-war involving Arsenal and Manchester United.
It is the kind of transfer round-up that says as much about leverage as it does about talent. Newcastle are setting a hard line on Gordon, Liverpool are keeping their options open in goal, and Salah’s future is drifting toward a move that would change the summer’s balance before the first deal is even done.
