has reminded customers about a recall it issued in June last year for the VÄRDEFULL garlic press, warning that a production issue could cause small pieces to break off. The company said anyone who owns the affected product should stop using it immediately and contact IKEA for a full refund.

No receipt or proof of purchase is required, and IKEA is asking customers to spread the word if the garlic press was offered, lent or sold to someone else. The recall notice was republished on IKEA Australia’s social media pages recently as part of a renewed effort to reach shoppers who may still have the product in their kitchens.

The warning lands as food and household product recalls continue to stack up across the country. Earlier this week, recalled its 150-gram turkey bacon over an undeclared milk allergen, with the product sold in independent retailers in New South Wales and Victoria, including some stores in Sydney.

said people intolerant to milk could be harmed if they ate the turkey bacon, and consumers with a milk allergy or intolerance were told not to eat it. Shoppers can return the product to the place of purchase for a full refund, and the company has listed 02 6021 3987 for further information.

For IKEA, the message is simple: the hazard is still the same one identified when the recall was first issued. The company is trying to reach anyone who missed the original notice before a kitchen tool that can shed fragments ends up back in regular use.
