Angel Reese gave Odyssey Sims the “too small” gesture after finishing a bucket in the first half of the Atlanta Dream’s road game against the Dallas Wings on May 13, 2026. Reese grabbed an offensive rebound after a missed 3-point attempt by Allisha Gray, rebounded the ball over Sims and scored through her before sprinting back on defense.
A few Wings fans booed as Reese headed down the floor, but the moment fit the tone of a tight game in Dallas. At halftime, the Wings held a slim lead over the Dream, and Reese had six points, seven rebounds and one blocked shot in 16 minutes while shooting 2-of-4 from the field and 2-of-2 from the free-throw line.
The sequence was the kind of play Reese has built a reputation on: power on the glass, quick hands around the rim and a showman’s edge after the finish. She arrived in Atlanta this season after an offseason trade with the Chicago Sky, where she played her first two WNBA seasons after being selected No. 7 overall in the 2024 WNBA Draft.
Reese entered the night coming off her second consecutive All-Star selection and a strong opening game for the Dream. In Atlanta’s season opener against the Minnesota Lynx, she finished with 11 points, 14 rebounds, two assists, two steals and three blocked shots in 32 minutes, a reminder that her impact has come as much from control of the paint as from her scoring.
Wednesday’s exchange with Sims also carried the simple friction that keeps a regular-season game moving: one player made a play, another caught the reaction, and the crowd answered back. For the Dream, the larger concern was the scoreboard, not the gesture. For Reese, the first half was another sign that Atlanta is leaning on her to set the tone every night, on both ends of the floor.
