Deportivo Pasto will visit Independiente Santa Fe on Sunday, November 8, with a squad built almost entirely from its youth system. Juan David Quintero Pantoja is among the 20 academy players called up to cover the club’s trip to El Campín for the date 18 match of Liga BetPlay II-2026.
The move comes after the professional squad entered a work stoppage and chose not to travel to Bogotá as a protest over unpaid wages. Acolfutpro said the players’ paralysis stems from the club’s failure to meet labor and contract commitments, including two months of salary owed by the board. In that void, the canteranos will carry the burden of representing the volcanic side in the capital.
Quintero’s name stands out because he arrived at this moment in form. Earlier in the week, he scored twice in Deportivo Pasto’s Sub-20 side’s 9-0 win over Deportivo Manabí of Ecuador in an international friendly, a performance that now carries extra weight as he steps into a senior match under unusual pressure. For a teenager, the leap from that result to a Liga BetPlay visit to El Campín is abrupt; for Pasto, it is a sign of how far the labor dispute has already reached into the sporting calendar.
The match is scheduled for 2:00 in the afternoon, but the bigger question is not the kickoff time. It is how a club in the middle of a senior-team stoppage manages to compete in one of the country’s most visible venues with a lineup of youngsters. Pasto will still take the field, but it will do so with the club’s conflict exposed in full view.
