The Philadelphia Union will host Toronto FC on Saturday, November 7th at Subaru Park at 4pm with their playoff path still unsettled. A win would lock the Union into sixth place and finish the regular season with 50 points. A loss could send them toward the Wild Card route if Cincinnati and Columbus both win.
That is why Toronto Vs Philadelphia is being searched now. MLS Decision Day is the final matchday of the regular season, and the Union sit sixth with 47 points entering the last game. If they finish seventh or higher, their 2026 campaign continues in Round One after the November FIFA international break, and the higher seed gets home field for the first game and, if needed, the third in the best-of-three series.
Ryan Richter has tried to steady a team that once put together a 15-match unbeaten streak and then went winless in four straight. Philadelphia lost to New England Revolution in Richter’s first defeat in charge, took a point from Shield Champions Nashville SC on the road three days later, and then lost at Cincinnati on Saturday before Decision Day. The Union have also had to manage injuries and absences while trying to close out a strong season in position to avoid the Wild Card match between the 8th and 9th seed teams.
Milan Iloski remains the biggest question. He had 19 goals before his injury and was leading the Golden Boot race, but Richter said he is still questionable and it is pretty unlikely he will be ready for Saturday afternoon. Japhet Sery Larsen is also still on the injury report, and Richter said he is still experiencing concussion symptoms.
Toronto FC has already been eliminated from playoff contention, which makes Philadelphia the team with everything on the line. Richter framed the task simply: some of what happens around the league is out of the Union’s control, but winning the game and finishing in sixth place is not. If they do that, they can wait for the rest of Decision Day to settle the bracket; if they do not, the postseason road becomes longer and less forgiving.
