England and South Africa have reached the Bowl Final of the Hong Kong International Sixes 2026-27 after tight semifinal wins at Mission Road Ground in Mong Kok. South Africa edged Bangladesh by one wicket, while England held off India by three runs to set up the title match.

Jorich Van Schalkwyk was the standout in South Africa’s chase. He stayed unbeaten on 77 off 20 deliveries, striking 10 sixes as South Africa chased 130 and finished on 132/5 in six overs. Ayabulela Gqamane added 30 off seven balls, and Blake Simpson made 17 from five deliveries to keep the innings moving when Bangladesh pressed back.

England’s route was just as sharp. Martin Andersson’s 51 off 13 deliveries gave England the pace they needed, and Ed Barnard finished unbeaten on 35 from 14 balls as they posted 124/2. Nathan Gilchrist returned figures of two wickets for 25 runs in two overs, and Jack Carson added another wicket as India were limited to 121/4.

The finalists arrived here from the bottom of their groups, not the top. England lost both Group A matches and finished third on zero points with an NRR of -8.250. South Africa also lost both Group D matches and ended on zero points with an NRR of -4.500. That makes this final unusual even by Sixes standards: two teams that did not win a league match are now playing for the Bowl title.

There is no smooth path through a short-format tournament like this, and the knockout stage has already shown how little the league table mattered once the semifinals began. South Africa have won three of the last five meetings with England, but the numbers from the group stage no longer matter in the same way now that both sides are in the final. What matters next is simple: England and South Africa will decide the Bowl at Mission Road Ground, and the result will finally settle which of these two late runners finishes the week with the trophy.
