Cam Spencer kept moving up on Thursday, and the minutes came with production. In a 124-103 win over Portland, he logged 23 minutes and delivered eight points, six rebounds, eight assists and two steals, with season highs in both rebounds and assists.

That kind of line is why his name is being searched now. His fantasy stock is very much on the rise, and the stat sheet showed more than empty volume. He shot 3-for-6 from the field, went 1-for-2 from 3-point range and made his only free throw, a clean night that came while he was getting a larger share of the backcourt work.

The change matters because this is not just one good box score tucked into a blowout. The game is part of an ongoing rise in playing time for Spencer, and the numbers suggest he is doing more with those minutes than simply filling space. Eight assists from a reserve-sized role is the kind of production that can force a staff to keep using a player, especially when the minutes are already creeping upward.

There is, however, a difference between a strong night and a confirmed depth-chart shift. Damichael Cole of The Memphis Commercial Appeal believes Spencer has leapfrogged Scotty Pippen in the backcourt rotation hierarchy, but that remains an evaluation rather than an official declaration. Spencer may be climbing faster than anyone else in that group, yet the exact order behind him is still being judged through usage, not announced with ceremony.

What is clear is that Thursday gave Spencer another case for more run. If the minutes hold and the assists keep coming, the question will no longer be whether he can make an impact in brief stretches. It will be whether his role has already become too useful to push back down.
